An Expert’s Perspective on IBM watsonx Orchestrate
The IBM watsonx Orchestrate product team is delivering at pace, rapidly introducing new features that showcase IBM’s vision for Agentic AI and its transformative potential in the enterprise space.
I’m privileged to work closely with TD SYNNEX’s IBM business partners across Europe, helping them to shape their GTM strategies and collaborating directly with their development and product teams to bring their Agentic AI use-cases to life for their end user customers.
This includes using the TD SYNNEX watsonx Sandbox environment for the development of solutions and then running dedicated end user customer watsonx PoC/POV’s with access to the wider portfolio of software services from the IBM Cloud.
A preview of what’s possible
What’s been exciting is seeing some of the highlights of the latest watsonx Orchestrate feature release in action, as it hints towards incredible future gains for enterprises. This includes:
• Multiple visual builders now available, including support for “open” options such as Langflow, enabling importing of workflows from other AI frameworks into watsonx Orchestrate. This means that developers are open to using their existing tool set and deploy seamlessly into watsonx Orchestrate.
• The watsonx Orchestrate flow builder delivers enterprise-grade visual workflow capabilities with governance, observability, and collaboration at its core, using the in-built services, flow controls and access to tools to design comprehensive AI workflows.
• Newly built-in business automation services into watsonx Orchestrate flow builder, such as Document Classification and Document Extraction services, which are expanding the capabilities of use-cases.
Riding the next wave of innovation
IBM’s wider software portfolio is where I see the next wave of innovation that will become best practice – providing an AI Agent integration across existing IBM software solutions and orchestrating a multi-agent architecture with access to multiple IBM product sets.
Why is this needed? Enterprise customers have run numerous single-point AI PoC’s, which have somewhat failed to achieve the required improvements in business productivity, left unanswered questions and failed to provide key metrics such as “time to value”.
What if IBM’s Agentic AI platform is understood as having the capabilities to deliver an entire end customers’ AI roadmap of use-cases across their entire existing and future application landscape, rather than the fear that Agentic AI needs to be delivered in a landscape of AI silos or existing business applications need to be replaced?
The next stage is transitioning successful PoC’s into full-scale production deployments. This is where I believe IBM’s wider watsonx portfolio and the depth, flexibility, and scale of services from IBM Cloud will be used to address the concerns and challenges from the Enterprise to accelerate production adoption of Agentic AI use-cases.
Very exciting times to be an IBM watsonx business partner, the future of enterprise Agentic AI is being built and delivered right now.
