Updates to IBM watsonx
IBM today unveiled significant updates to its watsonx platform at the annual THINK conference. CEO Arvind Krishna outlined the company’s commitment to open-source AI, revealing plans to release the IBM Granite models into open source and launching InstructLab in collaboration with Red Hat. These models, ranging from 3B to 34B parameters, support various tasks including code generation and application modernisation.
InstructLab fosters continuous model development through open-source contributions, allowing businesses to tailor AI to their specific needs. IBM also announced new AI assistants and data products, aiming to simplify AI deployment and enhance security across hybrid infrastructures. The expanded ecosystem now includes collaborations with AWS, Adobe, Meta, Microsoft, and others, offering diverse model choices and governance through watsonx.
IBM’s efforts are expected to unlock $4 trillion in annual economic benefits, addressing AI deployment barriers like data complexity and trust. The new AI-powered automation tool, IBM Concert, will be available in June 2024, providing predictive insights and integration with existing systems to streamline operations and pre-empt issues.
