Reflections from Neil Cornish, Ecosystem Business Manager at TD SYNNEX
When TD SYNNEX launched its IBM Partner Ecosystem Programme back in 2019, one of the first comments we received was: “You should probably rename it.”
Alternatives like “Solutions Aggregator” or “Industry Disrupter” were suggested. We chose not to — because ecosystem wasn’t just a label, it was a recognition of reality.
Even then, solutions were becoming too complex for individual companies to design, build, and deliver on their own. Technology stacks were deepening, industry requirements were diverging, and no single organisation could credibly hold every skill, route to market, or investment needed.
That thinking was influenced by the original business ecosystem principles described by James F. Moore in his Harvard Business article back in 1993: that sustainable advantage comes from communities of organisations evolving together, not from trying to do everything in isolation.
Our IBM Partner programme was never about bringing together the largest partners, or those in the same geography — that already happens. It was about deliberately connecting organisations with different strengths. Large partners bring scale and reach. Smaller partners bring deep, specialist expertise. Together, they can solve problems neither could address alone.
The acceleration of AI has only reinforced this model. AI solutions amplify the complexity — spanning data, platforms, governance, ethics, security, and industry context. Collaboration is no longer optional; it’s essential.
For nearly seven years now, this ecosystem approach has helped partners meet, share ideas, educate and build solutions together, and in some cases, acquire. We’ve just shared an update on the programme for 2026 and look forward to continuing the journey with existing members — and welcoming new partners who believe collaboration is how innovation truly scales.
TD SYNNEX IBM Partner Ecosystem Programme Update – Video Transcript
Hello and welcome to this 2026 update on the TD SYNNEX Ecosystem Programme, a strategic initiative conceived in 2019, recognising that our industry was changing and that technology solutions were becoming too complex for any single organisation to deliver alone.
Grounded in James Moore’s 1993 concept of a business ecosystem, the TD SYNNEX launch created a new approach, putting collaboration at the centre of our partner strategy, a model many vendors have subsequently followed in shaping their own channel and ecosystem frameworks.
Since launching our first ecosystem in healthcare back in 2019, complexity has accelerated at an extraordinary pace. Cloud became hybrid, AI became generative, and agents are becoming autonomous. And soon robotics, humanoids and quantum computing will shape everyday working life.
During the past six years, the ecosystem has expanded from healthcare and manufacturing into financial services. From Red Hat through managed services and marketplaces into [the] artificial intelligence community. This community now meets quarterly to share experiences, growth skills, and collaborate on opportunities. We continue to create environments where partners can present to their peers and exchange ideas, both with each other, with ISVs, vendors and entrepreneurs, along with the occasional contributions from quantum engineers, professors of genetics and AI researchers, ensuring that conversations extend far beyond products and into the heart of real-world solutions.
So, in 2025, we delivered multiple AI, healthcare, financial services and Red Hat round tables, along with seminars and technical education. And these have been hosted at IBM Hursley, IBM London, plus events at Cambridge University, the capital building in Bracknell, and other leading UK venues.
Our AI ecosystem has also provided a launchpad for Destination AI. This is the TD SYNNEX Global Initiative, which is accelerating adoption, capturing growth, and helping shape the future of artificial intelligence, supporting our ambition to develop a thousand expert AI partners in 2026.
In addition to our role as ecosystem orchestrator, creating opportunities for collaboration, the ecosystem team offers a unique business consulting service. We have now run executive value proposition workshops and sales team training for over 40 businesses, helping them to establish a consistent value proposition, identify market opportunities, and develop new skills. And with the recent launch of our destination AI Practice Builder Workshops, we are committed to helping partners scale their AI businesses.
So now, in our seventh year, we believe the demand for collaboration in our industry has never been greater. Our commitment remains unchanged to bring together the right people, the right skills, and the right technology to accelerate innovation, both for our partners and end customers. And we believe trust comes from visibility, not promises.
So, there you have it, the TD SYNNEX Ecosystem Program. Thought leadership with execution.
Thank you.
